BIO AND ARTISTS

Patricia Burgess is a composer, producer and musician.

A jazz saxophonist, Burgess incorporates classical forms and harmonic language into her work. She merges computer generated sound environments with Tibetan traditional music, creating a new eclectic synthesis. Her works include an opera and music for theater classics including Hamlet and The Seagull.

Her musical training includes classical composition with Dr. Dominick Argento and performance with Ruben Haugen at the University of Minnesota; jazz saxophone with Joe Viola at Berklee College of music; world music with Jerry Granelli and poetry with Allen Ginsburg at Naropa University; computer music with Charles Dodge at Brooklyn College and Brad Garton at Columbia University. She also worked with the Art Ensemble of Chicago in the study of new music.

NOTHING WITHOUT A WOMAN, a multidisciplinary jazz suite with mock radio interviews celebrating unconventional women.
